CTSO Central is committed to compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). As a platform serving Career and Technical Student Organizations, we understand the importance of protecting student education records and personally identifiable information.

Our Commitment

CTSO Central operates as a school official with a legitimate educational interest under FERPA. We process student education records solely for the purpose of providing the services outlined in our agreements with educational institutions and state associations.

Data Handling Practices

  • Student education records are used only for the purposes specified in our service agreements
  • We do not disclose personally identifiable information from education records to third parties without proper consent or authorization
  • Access to student data is restricted to authorized personnel who require it to fulfill their role
  • We maintain administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect student information

Rights of Parents and Eligible Students

FERPA provides parents and eligible students (students over 18 or attending postsecondary institutions) with specific rights regarding education records, including the right to:

  • Inspect and review education records
  • Request amendment of inaccurate or misleading records
  • Consent to disclosure of personally identifiable information
  • File a complaint with the U.S. Department of Education
